Sporty Spice...from Wood Wood!

Another brand to watch from Copenhagen Fashion week is Copenhagen based Wood Wood...

Wood Wood presented their Spring/Summer 2013 collection entitled ’3rd Movement’ at Andersen’s Contemporary during Copenhagen Fashion Week. Photographer Hasse Nielsen captured the collection which was said to be inspired by San Francisco’s 1967 Summer of Love and the free love culture which continued to blossom into contemporary rave culture. The ’3rd Movement’ Collection was released through the brand’s online store on Monday January 28, 2013 and the following day in Wood Wood stores.

Coming up...CPH Fashion Week!

This week is Copenhagen Fashion Week and the city turns into a big marketplace full of inspiration, street and fairs, brings a good view on what wave hit us next...

I will have a closer look on some of my favorite designers..Swedish Carin Wester.

Carin Wester graduated 1998, from Beckman's School of Design and started short thereafter to work as a designer for the brand Paul & Friends. During eight seasons, she designed the women's line, until that she started her own brand Carin Wester, 2003.
Since the launching of the brand, Carin has been nominated for Nöjesguidens fashion award (2004) and achieved the prize as newcomer of the year by Elle (2004) for her design. Carin was also nominated as the Designer of the year by Elle (2005) and as Entrepreneur of the year 2008 by Ernst & Young . In August 2009, she won the prestigious prize "Guldknappen" from the Swedish magazine Damernas Värld.

Spring/Summer 2013 collection dedicated to the independent, modern woman who stays in the city during the summer. Inspired by the characters of the 1980s movie ›Working Girl‹, the strict »office suit« changes to a more casual outfit for a late evening on a terrace or a long weekend by the lake. The perfect man she is looking for distances himself from the classic suit, revealing contemporary elegance with a relaxed attitude...

Looking forward to Fall/Winter 2013...

ISKOS-BERLIN ON THE DESIGN “Under The Bell is not just a lampshade. When hung over a table or in an open environment it creates its own space within the bigger space. That way, the lamp embraces and shelters the table and people beneath it – both physically and in a more abstract sense. The recycled plastic felt even absorbs sound and helps improve the acoustics of your room.” MATERIAL PET polymer felt and rubber cordCOLOURS black, grey DIMENSIONS height 46 cm, Ø 82 cm MAX WATTAGE 30W

LARS TORNØE ON THE DESIGN "This characterful little family of hooks is a friendly addition to any wall. The Dots are proud of their round edges and will treat your clothes with the greatest care. They will also let you arrange them on your wall in the pattern you like. Being a very social set of hooks, The Dots love to welcome other Dots to join them on the wall. The only thing The Dots demand from you is that you uncover them every now and then and admire their shape and material" MATERIAL First class oak or stained ash wood (coloured versions are ash wood) COLOUR natural oak, black, yellow, green, purple, white, grey DIMENSIONS Large: Ø 170, Medium: Ø 130, Small: Ø 90 mm OPTIONS Available in gift boxes containing 1 large, 1 medium and 3 small Dots or as single small, medium or large coat hooks

The lamp series consist of a white and grey version that both, in their own way, bring forward the beauty of electrical light. The lamps are at their best in the late evening, creating a cosy mood around them." MATERIAL mouth blown glass, textile cord COLOUR transparent grey DIMENSIONS ø 24 cm, Height 32 cm MAX WATTAGE 60W

Kähler past and future

Kähler dates back to 1839, where the adventure begins, and which continues today all over the world. The starting point was Herman J. Kähler, a Holstein potter, who opened a small pottery workshop in Næstved/Denmark. This was further developed by his son, Herman A. Kähler, since in 1875 by weighting the aesthetic aspect high.

The ambition has always been to bring art to the people and 100 years ago was the artistic expression shaped by big names like Thorvald and Svend Hammershøj. Kähler continues its tradition of collaboration with the great artists, designers and ceramic artists such as Louise Campbell, Cecilie Manz, Jeanette List Amstrup and Jelena Schou Nordentoft.

Today will follow ceramics traditions and interpreting them in a contemporary perspective. In this way, pull the thread through the history of art back to Kähler startup. The fact that we work with people with such different backgrounds means that our art ceramics have very different expressions because they each with their own background, their own approach to the design of an object - the starting point may be the pure form, function and material options.
